WHAT ARE EVERYDAY SEXISMS?
Everyday sexisms encompass structural and interpersonal interactions and include roles, labour divisions, speech acts that marginalise, subjugate and oppress on the basis of gender. Not everyone ‘sees’ incidents or evidence of everyday sexisms in the same way. This is because individual incidents can be fleeting and seemingly banal or innocuous. Therefore, situations or outcomes created by everyday sexisms can often be reasoned away as attributable to something else.
